Introduction to the new CODE2 projectPublished on 17-07-2012

The new CODE2 project is a IEE co-funded project that will launch and structure an important market consultation for developing 27 National Cogeneration Roadmaps and one European Cogeneration Roadmap. These roadmaps will be built on the experience and outputs of the previous CODE project (2008-2011) and the work will be done in close interaction with the key stakeholders (policy-makers, industry and civil society) through research and workshops. The project will specifically explore the implications and develop an interpretation of the new Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) and will seek to develop Coalitions on Cogeneration at the Member State level involving and attracting key cogeneration stakeholders. The project started on 1 July 2012 and will finish 31 December 2014. During the period the following, the following actions will be undertaken:

• Development of 27 National Cogeneration Roadmaps

• Production of practical guides for target industries (paper, food/drink, hotels, commercial premises) that address the main issues when developing a business case for cogeneration

• Identification of best practice cases

• Organisation of workshops where stakeholders can comment on draft National Cogeneration Roadmaps

• Development of a European Cogeneration Roadmap

• Organisation of high-profile events in Brussels to inform EU policy-makers of the European Cogeneration Roadmap and of other CODE2 project outcomes
